What’s new
New features and improvements in Squaremetry, newest first. The beta has not opened yet: this is what has been built and tested so far.
- Improved
One clear look for every dimension, with arrows
Every dimension on the plan now looks the same: a thin line with a small arrow at each end, short lines to the points it measures, and the number in the line, readable on any floor colour. When a part is too short, the arrows sit outside the line and point in. The same look is in the PDF, SVG, PNG and DXF; in DXF with a normal filled CAD arrow. Feet and inches read neatly, like 42′ 6″.
- Improved
The size of a wall you choose, drag or draw stays clear
Choose, drag or draw a wall and its length shows in teal at a fixed distance from the thin dotted outline, never on top of it. The number moves away from room names, other numbers and the handles, and is never cut off. Double-click it to type the length, just like the other dimensions. The same at every zoom, and on a phone.
- Improved
Outside: the rooms along each side and one total
With Outside, the chain on each side now shows the inside size of every room along that side, from wall to wall, with the walls as open gaps. Further out is the total outside size, once for each direction: at the bottom and on the right. A room with a slanted wall is measured along the axis.
- New
Refund policy on its own page
The refund rules from the terms of service now also have their own page, linked in the footer: who gets what back when withdrawing within 14 days, cancelling, business customers, how to ask for a refund and how long it takes. The rules themselves have not changed.
- Improved
A more compact room panel, less scrolling
When you pick a room, the panel on the left now shows the room, its area and every basic row at once on a laptop screen, without scrolling. The name of the home and the floor are one short line each. The shape of the room is a small tile next to its area, with inside the walls and the perimeter below. Move is an icon next to the help and the lock, with the tip Move this room; the handle next to the room name on the plan still works too. Show dimensions is one short switch, with the explanation in its tip. Rows are a little lower, and on a low screen the colour overview of the floor is half as tall. Nothing moved and nothing was removed. On a tablet every target is still at least 44 px.
- Improved
Tables from the German editor open cleanly in a spreadsheet
CSV tables from the editor in German now use a semicolon, like in Dutch, because the comma is the decimal sign there. In English nothing changes.
- New
A narrow rail next to the panel
Next to the panel on the left is now a narrow rail with four sections, each an icon with its word: Plan (floors, rooms and the area), Draw (wall, room, door, window and stair with thickness and height, the rest one click deeper), Objects (the library, right in the panel) and Finishes (the floor of the whole floor and the walls of a room or the whole floor, each in one step). Click the section you are in again to fold the panel away and keep only the rail. Your last section stays chosen, also in your account. In Customize bar you can hide the rail; it goes left or right with the panel. On a phone the sections are a row of words at the top of the Rooms sheet.
- Improved
Where is what, and search says where
Under the question mark at the bottom right is Where is what: 25 common tasks, each with the place where you find it. Pick one and you are there. Search (Cmd K) now finds the same tasks, such as Heights, Layers, Add floor, Room type, Flooring and the measurement report, and shows where each one is, like Plan › Heights.
- Improved
The AI where you need it, and the rail in Model
Plan from a description, Plan from a sketch or photo and Change the plan with a sentence are now under Draw in the rail. The listing text is in Export, and Ask the norm is next to What counts under Plan › Area. On the start screen, Sketch or photo (AI) sits next to Describe it (AI). File keeps them too, with the same words. Model has the same rail: Plan opens its Overview, Objects its Parts and Finishes its Colours and materials.
- New
Model builds onto the house
At the top of Model you choose House or Free. With House, a block on the ground beside the house becomes an extension, a block on top of the walls a storey, a block on a sloped roof a dormer, and a rectangle on a wall a door or window. It is part of the plan at once: it counts, shows in the plan and the dimensions, and one Undo takes it back, in Model and in the plan alike. New walls take their thickness and height from the card of Wall and Room. What the house does not recognise, such as a chimney or a block half inside the house, stays free with a Does not count label and one sentence why; Make part of the house as… lets you choose. Free models freely and never changes the plan. The choice is kept with the plan.
- Improved
Model: a card when 3D cannot start, and free shapes leave with their floor
If 3D cannot start or stops in this browser, Model now shows the same card as the 3D view, with the setting to turn on, Try again and Back to the plan, instead of an empty screen. Deleting a floor in the plan also removes the free shapes you modelled on it, and a storey above stays at its height; Undo brings both back.
- Improved
Every small change is a step with a clear name
The history box now names each step in your language, with the values: Wall thickness 22 cm → 27 cm, Room renamed: Hall, Room type: Kitchen, Length 6 m → 6.5 m, Layer locked: Dimensions, Favourite applied, Model: block pulled 2.6 m, with the editor where you made it. A wall has − and + for its thickness; clicking them quickly on the same wall is one step, after a second it is a new one. Zooming and opening panels are not steps.
- Improved
Zoom like you expect, also in Safari
Scroll to zoom in and out around the mouse, smoothly, with a mouse wheel, two fingers on a trackpad or a Magic Mouse. Pinch to zoom on a Mac trackpad, also in Safari: only the plan zooms, never the whole page. Shift or Alt with scroll moves the plan. Prefer scrolling to move the plan? Choose Scrolling: Move the plan in Settings, My defaults; it is also in favourites. The zoom has no fixed steps and no percentage any more: − and + zoom in small smooth steps, the scale bar says how big things are, from a few millimetres to a whole plot, and the button Fit all between − and + puts the whole plan on the screen, as do Shift+1 and a double click on the scale bar. Shift+2 puts what you chose on the screen. On a narrow screen, zoom and Fit are in search (⌘K). Single-key shortcuts can be turned off in My defaults.
- Improved
Drag to move the view, click a room to see it
With Select, drag on an empty spot or inside a room and the view moves with the mouse, straight away. A room no longer moves by accident. Click a room without dragging and its panel opens on the left. To move a room on purpose, click Move in that panel and drag it or use the arrow keys (Enter keeps it, Esc puts it back), or drag the small handle next to its name. Furniture and everything inside goes along. Dragging a wall, a piece of furniture or a symbol still moves it. Shift and drag on an empty spot draws a selection box. On a phone, one finger moves the view and two fingers zoom.
- New
Drag a corner with a clear handle
With Select, a round handle shows on the corner under the mouse, also on a slanted wall or a curve. Drag it to move the corner: the walls on it and the rooms follow, and furniture against those walls goes along. It snaps to the grid and to other corners; hold Shift to keep a wall at 0, 45 or 90 degrees. One Undo puts it back.
- New
The German WoFlV, and plans without a national standard
The editor now also measures to the German living area ordinance (WoFlV): full from 2 m high, half from 1 m to 2 m, a balcony for a quarter, no basement or garage. A plan in any other language uses no national standard: the floor area inside the walls of each room, without height rules and without promising a standard, in meters or feet. A new plan takes the standard of your language and country; you change it in Survey or in My defaults. A German plan that used the Dutch rules asks you once whether to switch.
- Improved
Team per year is cheaper
Team per year is now $399 for 5 people, down from $690. Each extra person per year is $69, down from $120, up to 20 people. Team per month stays $69, with $12 a month for each extra person. A team that already pays per year keeps the price it signed up for.
Needs an account. Accounts open with the beta.
- Improved
Systems in the same calm panel as Plan
In Remodel, Systems now has the same kind of panel as Plan. At the top the title and a short line, then one row per trade (Electrical, Water and drains, Heating, Ventilation and air conditioning, Camera and doorbell) with the colour of its layer and how many there are on this floor. A row opens the trade in the same panel: its symbols as a list, More symbols one click deeper, and Pipes, Fuse box and Propose as rows where they belong to that trade. Layers is one row at the bottom. Every part has Back and its own help, and Esc goes back. Nothing was removed: every symbol, pipe and setting is still there.
- Improved
One place for a room
A room you pick opens in the panel on the left, and the floating card on the right no longer shows the same things again. The name is the title of that panel: click it and type. A lock next to the help locks the size. The area is large, with inside the walls and the perimeter below it. First the basics: Type (one list, with the kinds of an outbuilding on top), Size, a switch to show the dimensions of this room, Floor and Settings; More opens Walls and ceiling, Items in this room, Photos and note, and Copy, turn, mirror. Delete room is at the bottom. Back closes the room. In 3D, with the panel turned off and on a phone the card is still there.
- New
Squaremetry on the iPad and other tablets
On an iPad or another tablet you now get the full editor, upright and on its side, also on an iPad mini. Every button is at least 44 points, big enough for a finger. Two fingers zoom and move the drawing, never the whole page. Hold a finger still to open the menu of what is under it. The panel on the left can be collapsed for more room to draw. In Split View or Stage Manager the editor adjusts as the window gets narrower or wider, without losing anything; below 700 points wide it switches to the phone layout.
- New
Draw with the Apple Pencil, your hand can rest on the screen
A pen draws exactly where it touches, like a mouse. While the pen is on or just above the screen, a hand resting on it does nothing: no point, no zoom, no menu. With a keyboard on the iPad all shortcuts work, including ⌘Z and ⌘⇧Z. If a call comes in while you draw, the unfinished step is undone and everything else is saved.
- New
Install Squaremetry as an app on your iPad or computer
Put Squaremetry on your Home Screen or in the Dock: it then opens in its own window and works without internet. Under ? › Install app you see the steps for your browser: Safari on iPad, Share › Add to Home Screen; Safari on a Mac, File › Add to Dock; Chrome and Edge, Install. We show this once by ourselves, on your second visit. On the iPad the app has its own icon and start screen.
- Improved
Your bar layout follows your account
Where you put the toolbar, the zoom and help blocks and the side panel, and the tools you pin, now stay with your account. Sign in on another computer and the bar is where you left it. A change made without a connection goes to your account as soon as you are back online.
Needs an account. Accounts open with the beta.
- New
Pick the door or window type before you place it
Door and Window open a short list above the toolbar: single, double, sliding, pocket, an opening without a door or a garage door; fixed, casement or sliding window. Pick one and click a wall. Esc closes the list and you keep placing; your last choice stays. On a phone the list is a sheet at the bottom.
- New
Thickness and height while you draw
With Wall or Room chosen, a small card shows the thickness and height of what you draw next, with − and + or a typed size. Room keeps the exterior and interior wall apart; Wall also has a height above the floor. What you set stays your default, the same as in My defaults. A size out of range is refused with a sentence.
- Improved
The room map stands at the top left
The small map of the rooms is no longer under More for this plan: it stands at the top left of the plan, with its own edge, next to the side panel or the rail. Click a room to zoom to it. Fold it away with the arrow; it stays folded. Not on a phone.
- Improved
Rent points: a low strip only counts inside its room
In the Dutch rent points (WWS), a strip lower than 1.50 m now only counts inside its own room. A strip that sticks out past the façade, or one drawn twice, no longer takes off too much. Interior walls never counted here, so nothing changes for them. This is rule set 0.1.2; a plan where it does not apply keeps its numbers and its old version.
- Improved
Loss areas: toward a garage measured on the inside
The loss areas (ISSO 82.1) now stop at the inside of the wall toward a garage or another space outside the thermal zone: the façade, floor, roof and perimeter of the room next to it no longer run to the middle of that wall. Toward the neighbours and toward zone 2 they still run to the middle. This is rule set 0.3.1.
- New
Outside dimensions as chains around the house
Outside now puts a chain of dimensions outside the house on each side: close to the house the parts of the facade, from corner to corner and at every step in the wall, and further out the total of that side. Thin lines with small arrows, the numbers small along the line, and never a number on another number or a room name. A slanted wall gets its own size along the wall, and a shed that stands apart gets its own chains. Double-click a part or a total to type a new size. Plans you already have keep how they look until you choose.
- Improved
A new plan shows its sizes on all four sides
A new plan now starts with Outside on all four sides. Prefer something else? Choose it under Settings, My defaults, Dimensions in a new plan, or save it as a favourite setting.
- Improved
What the floor sits on is now in Remodel
Basement, crawl space, slab on ground, home below, unheated or outside air: you now choose what a floor sits on in Remodel. Click a room and then Floor sits on, in the panel on the left or in the card on the right. Search for Floor sits on and it opens there with your room. In Plan the room shows only its floor finish, so the panel stays calm. Plans you made before keep their choice, and the section, the Build-up colours and the loss areas use it as before. The area never changes.
- Improved
Help next to the line templates of a quote
The line templates in a quote now have their own question mark. It opens the guide to a quote from the quantities, at the step about templates with your own prices.
- Improved
A new panel next to the plan: find everything in two clicks
The panel on the left of Plan is new. At the top the name of your home, then one wide floor field: click it to see every building with its floors, add a floor or add a building. Below it a colour overview of the floor: every room as a patch in its own colour; click one to open it. Then the active variant with its area large, and a button with the number of variants. Then calm rows: Rooms, Area (with the main number on the right and what counts), Heights, Layers, This floor (name, copy, turn, roof, delete), and Duplicate variant and Delete this variant at the bottom. A room opens in the same panel with its shape and area, and rows for its Type, Floor, Walls and ceiling, Settings (height and whether it counts) and Items in this room. Every row opens in place, with Back to return. Everything works with the keyboard; on a phone the Rooms sheet has the same parts.
- Improved
A calmer library
The library is one panel now: search with a star next to it for your favorites, one list to choose a category (Basic at the top, then All categories and every kind with its number), the number of results, and the tiles below with a name on up to two lines. Colour and Fits in sit under Filter. Search and the list stay in view while you scroll, and tiles come in as you scroll, so long lists stay smooth. Nothing found? One click searches all categories.
- New
Small tiles and 3D previews
Switch the library between large and small tiles, and between our drawing (2D) and a picture of the 3D model for pieces that have one. Both stay in this browser and can be part of a favourite setting under Display.
- Improved
Search finds part of a word, also in German
Part of a word is enough: "bank" finds "hoekbank". In German, words like Bett, Tisch, Kühlschrank or Tür find the right pieces too.
- New
Double-click a size on the plan to type it
Double-click the number of a dimension on the plan (outside size, a part of a dimension chain, or the inside size of a room) and type the new size, like 3.80 m, 13' 4" or 13.5'. Enter sets it, Esc cancels, and a size that cannot work says why and changes nothing. On a phone, double-tap. The furniture and shapes inside go along, and one undo puts it back.
- Improved
Which side stays: clearer, and your own default
The choice Left or top stays, Right or bottom stays or Both sides now shows a small picture and one sentence of what happens, with a link to the guide. Set your default in Settings, My defaults (or as a favourite setting). A choice on a card holds until you close the editor.
- Improved
Shapes from Model move with the home
A shape you made in Model now goes along when you move a room or the whole home, moves with a wall it stands against, and turns and mirrors with the plan. In 3D, a plate at the height of a wall top no longer shows black jagged patches.
- Improved
No more "0 m²" between two walls
Two walls right next to each other no longer make an empty room between them with a label of 0 m². A gap smaller than 0.05 m², or narrower than 5 cm on average, is not a room and counts nowhere.
- Improved
Pick the kind of a room from a list
The kind of a room is now one line, like Kind: Living room. Open it for a list you can search by typing, with the kinds used most in this plan at the top. It works with the keyboard; on a phone you get the list of your phone.
- New
Favourite settings
Save the settings you use most as a favourite with a name: dimensions, display, drawing, 3D, export, sharing and layout. You find Favourites in the menu Dimensions and in Export. One click applies a favourite to the open plan, and one undo puts everything back. Without an account they stay in this browser.
- New
Start every new plan with a favourite
In Settings, Favourites, choose a default for new plans. On the start screen, in My homes and with Start with your address, Start with lets you pick another one. An owner or admin of a team pins one favourite as the house style of the team.
- Improved
The same bar in every editor
Survey, Remodel, Model and Sheets now have the bar of Plan at the bottom: zoom and history on the left, the tools of the editor in the middle with their key and More, and on the right the choice of that editor (Dimensions, Layers in Systems, View in Model, Sheet in Sheets), search, the shortcuts and the question mark. Every tool has its own key; in Sheets the scrapbook is S and a table is T.
- Improved
The section belongs to Survey
Section is no longer in Plan. Open it in Survey or Sheets, or search it: that takes you to Survey. A line A-A you placed stays saved and shows on the plan in Survey.
- New
Customize the bar
Under More or the question mark: put the tool bar at the bottom, top, left or right (on a side it is a narrow rail with the name under each icon), move the other blocks and the side panel, hide what you do not need, choose which tools stay in the bar and in what order, and show words at every tool or none. Back to default puts it all back in one click. Your choice stays in this browser; a phone keeps its own bar.
- Improved
Furniture moves with the walls
Drag a room, a selection or the whole floor and everything inside goes along: furniture, kitchens, symbols, pipes and cables, notes, dimensions and photo points. Move one wall (also just a part, or by typing a size) and what stands against it follows: a kitchen run, a cabinet, a radiator, a socket. Free-standing furniture stays, and only shifts back the little it needs when the wall would run through it. Turning or mirroring the plan turns the furniture too. One undo puts it all back. Layers you locked stay where they are.
- New
Put the floor plan on your website
Under Embed on your site you find a short tip and a new guide. The code now holds a small line "Floor plan made with Squaremetry" under the plan; with Pro or Team you can uncheck it. A link that stopped shows a calm card instead of an error.
Needs an account. Accounts open with the beta.
- Improved
Walls and low strips follow the boundary of what counts
Under the Dutch measuring code, three things now come out right. An interior wall next to a space that does not count (not accessible, or entirely lower than 1.50 m behind a knee wall) is the boundary and no longer counts. A strip lower than 1.50 m only counts inside its own room. And an interior wall that stands under a low strip on both sides is itself lower than 1.50 m there. This is rule set 0.1.2. A plan where none of this applies keeps exactly the same numbers and still names its old version; a plan can also keep 0.1.1.
- New
Room templates for a remodel
Start with a room that already has its fixtures: five bathrooms, a kitchen in one wall, L, U, galley or with an island, a toilet and a laundry room. The work profile Remodeler starts with Room template on the start screen. In the card of a room you drew, Room template puts the fixtures in that room and says whether it fits; furniture that was there goes out in the same step, and Undo brings it back. A room that is too small changes nothing and says what size it needs.
- Improved
Bathroom and kitchen pages open the drawn room
On the bathroom and kitchen layout pages, each drawing now opens in the editor as that room with its fixtures in place, not as an empty room. A link only fills an empty plan; a plan you already have stays as it is.
- Improved
Clean wall corners in 3D
Where two walls meet, 3D now joins them with a mitre, just like the floor plan. The white strip and the flickering jagged patch on an outside corner are gone, cladding lines run on around the corner, and the section no longer draws two walls over each other at a corner. The white end of a wall only shows on a free wall end and in the section.
- Improved
Withdraw from an unlocked home within 14 days
As a consumer you can now withdraw from an unlocked home within 14 days, just like Pro and Team: in Settings, under Withdraw within 14 days, you confirm, the home is locked again and you pay only for the days used. The rest goes back through Paddle, and you get a confirmation by email.
Needs an account. Accounts open with the beta.
- Improved
Opt out of the beta reminders
The reminders about the end of the beta now have an opt-out link, and your mail program can opt you out in one click. Opting out stops news and these reminders together; emails about your account and payments still come.
Needs an account. Accounts open with the beta.
- Improved
A short explanation on every tool
Point at a tool or button and a label says what it does, in one sentence: the editor picker, the tabs of Survey and Remodel, Share and Export, everything under More in the toolbar, every tool in Sheets, the tabs of Systems and the camera buttons in 3D. In Sheets and Systems the ? next to the tools now opens the guide for the tool or tab you chose, and the 3D help has a ? to its guide. The guide on the start screen explains how it works.
- Improved
Knee wall: measured on the outside
The Knee wall field in the Roof panel and the guide Levels, heights, roofs and variants now say where it is measured: on the outside face of the façade, where the roof rests on the wall. The roof, the area under 1.50 m or 5 ft and the gross volume start there.
- Improved
One way to describe cancelling
The site, the terms, the help, the FAQ and the beta mail now all say the same thing: you cancel Pro or Team in a few clicks from Settings.
- Improved
Radiator output is out for now
The Heat output tab in Systems, the indication on the card of a radiator and the Radiator output table in Sheets are gone for now. The rule of thumb was too rough; radiator output comes back later. Radiators stay on the plan with their own fields. A plan with a Radiator output table still opens: that table is left out, the rest of the sheet stays.
- Improved
Loss areas per zone instead of the energy export
In Measure, More for professionals now shows the loss areas of a drawn home as ISSO 82.1 describes them, split per zone: floors with their perimeter, roofs along the slope, and façades with their windows and doors, plus the Ag. Download them as a sheet (PDF) with a small plan per floor, or as a table (CSV). The project file for energy label software and the label details (year built, type of home, address, building height) are gone for now. A storage room behind a knee wall now lies inside the zone, so the roof above it counts.

- Improved
3D tells you what to do when it cannot start
When a browser cannot show 3D, you no longer get a message that disappears after a few seconds. In 3D, in a share link and in the presentation you now see a card with the reason and the setting to check in your browser: in Chrome and Edge "Use graphics acceleration when available", in Firefox "Use hardware acceleration when available". A browser with only the older WebGL 1 is asked to update. If the browser takes the graphics memory back, 3D draws again by itself when it returns, or you click Try again. Your plan always stays. Tested in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Chromium.
- Improved
Clearer AI instructions and MCP tools
Ask the norm answers briefly, without a fixed number of sentences. The MCP tools say when they return an error, and ask_the_norm says in its description to answer only from our passages and to cite their links.
- Improved
The founding price for Pro
Take Pro monthly during the beta and the checkout now asks the founding price instead of the regular price, for as long as your subscription runs. Settings shows that price. If you cancel, the founding price ends.

- Improved
Download my data holds everything
The zip from Settings now also holds your personal data (account, sessions, devices, consents, waitlist, feedback, AI log, API keys, payments), per workspace its links, versions, photos, documents, exports and logos, and named and pinned versions as open files. Owners and admins also get the leads and invoices of their workspace. Keys and other secrets are left out.
Needs an account. Accounts open with the beta.
- Improved
No photo location to AI
A sketch or photo you send to AI is now always redrawn in your browser first, also when it is small, so the place where the photo was taken and other photo data never leave your device.
Needs an account. Accounts open with the beta.
- New
Angles and labels on Sheets that follow the plan
Under More in the Sheets tools: Angle measures between three points in a view, and a point on a wall corner follows that wall. Label reads the room at its point: the room name, area, size and level fill in by themselves and change when you rename the room or move a wall. Fields work in English, Dutch and German.
- New
Draw on a sheet and tables from CSV
Draw puts lines and shapes on a sheet point by point, open or closed, with the length on paper and in the plan at the scale of the view. Table from a CSV file places a table from a file (semicolon, comma or tab, up to 100 rows of 12 columns); you can replace it with another file.
- New
Your own title block
In the card of a sheet, Fields and logo turns standard fields off, adds up to 6 fields of your own and a logo of your own. Put it on all sheets at once, and Save as template keeps it for your other homes.
- New
DXF per sheet, and export only what is chosen
Export sheets now makes a DXF per sheet: the paper at full size with the frame, the title block, each view cropped to its frame and every kind on its own layer, with a paid home or Pro like every DXF. Only what is chosen exports just the views and parts you chose, as PDF, PNG, SVG or DXF.
Needs an account. Accounts open with the beta.
- New
Width × length in every room
Dimensions › Inside now shows the width and length under the name of each room, such as 3.20 × 4.10 m or 11′ 8″ × 13′ 4″. Prefer lines? Choose Dimension lines. Numbers never sit on a room name or its area any more: they move along their line or to the other wall. On screen and in PNG, PDF and SVG.
- New
Dimensions per room and on all four sides
In the card of a room, Show the dimensions of this room turns them on or off for that room alone. Outside and Chains can show on all four sides or on the left and bottom. The button at the bottom right now says what is on, such as Dimensions: Outside, and a short tip shows the first time.
- New
Lighting plan with switch groups
Systems has more kinds of light: surface spot, track light, linear light and LED strip. Lights switched by the same switches form a group with a letter, and the card says whether it is one switch, two-way or two-way with intermediate switching, with a tip when a one-way switch sits in a two-way group. The lighting plan is a sheet in the drawing set and on Sheets.
- New
Radiator output per room
Under Heat output in Systems, each room gets an indication from a rule of thumb: its volume times the watts per m³ for the insulation, from the year built or your own choice. A radiator shows its share. The source is next to every number: a rule of thumb, not a heat loss calculation. Drawing aid, not an installation design.
- Improved
Camera, doorbell and systems in 3D
A camera and a doorbell are symbols on their own layer, also in the export and the DXF, and Electrical has an outdoor socket. Systems also show in the normal 3D: symbols as small blocks at their height and pipes and cables at their level, each trade on or off.
- Improved
Clear about who checks the result
Where a result leaves Squaremetry, the editor now says plainly that you check it: "Check every measurement yourself" before you export and in the area report, "A proposal: check it" with AI proposals, the energy assessor stays responsible for the registration in the energy export, and a quote and the sample plans ask you to check the quantities and measurements. Squaremetry is a drawing aid, not a measurement on site.
- Improved
Five editors instead of eight
Plan, Survey, Remodel, Model and Sheets. Remodel has two tabs: Interior (furniture, kitchen, tiles, prices and the quote) and Systems (electrical, water, heating and air), with Select and the tools of the tab in the toolbar; Wall, Room, Door and Window are under More. The plot, the driveway and garden, the ground and north are now Outside in Plan, under More in the toolbar. Present is a button in every editor: at the bottom of the editor menu, under Share and with Alt 6, and Esc takes you back to where you were. Flyer and social images are also in Export, and the sun study opens from the 3D options. Nothing went away: old links with Interior, Systems or Site open the new place. Your work profile now only sets which editors are on top; every key and link opens every editor.
- New
The history box
The clock next to Undo and Redo opens your steps, newest first, each with a short name, the editor where you made it and when. Click a step, or use the arrow keys and Enter, to go straight back to it; undone steps show grey until you make a new change. Pin it to keep it on screen while you draw: drag it where you like, and your browser remembers the place. The key J opens and closes it. On a phone it is History box in More, a sheet at half height.
- New
Pages for remodelers
Bathroom layouts and kitchen layouts drawn to scale with the clearances and the work triangle measured, a panel schedule filled in from a plan with its one-line diagram, a remodel planner with the demolition and build quantities, and a page for contractors. Every drawing and number comes from the editor itself.

Rent points: a void under a sloped roof is deducted once
In the rent points (WWS), a void or stairwell and the part of a room lower than 1.50 m both do not count. Where the two overlapped, that part was deducted twice and the space came out too small. It is now deducted once, as the opening, just like the measuring code since rule set 0.1.1. This is WWS rule set 0.1.1; a plan where nothing overlaps keeps exactly the same points and still names 0.1.0.
- New
Contractor pack
One button in Export and in Sheets makes a ZIP for the contractor: the drawing set (existing, demolition and new, systems, interior walls with the kitchen run), every quantity as CSV with trade and unit, the quote or a list without prices, DXF on layers with a paid home or Pro, and a readme with the view link when the home is in your account. The usual export rules apply: free with the small mark.
- Improved
A void under a sloped roof is deducted once
Under the Dutch measuring code, a void and the part of a room lower than 1.50 m both do not count. Where the two overlapped, for example a void next to a low roof edge, that part was deducted twice and the living area came out too low. It is now deducted once, as the void. This is rule set 0.1.1; a plan where nothing overlaps keeps exactly the same numbers and still names 0.1.0.
- New
Panel schedule and single-line diagram
Under Fuse box in Systems, Panel schedule as PDF prints the schedule (per circuit the breaker, RCD, poles, points, rooms and cable length) and a simple single-line diagram, through Export like every PDF. Both are also in the drawing set and on Sheets. Every sheet says: Drawing aid, not an installation design.
- New
Floor heating in circuits, with a layout
Place a manifold and Systems splits the floor heating into circuits: each stays under the longest circuit you choose (usually 100 m, or 300 ft), with flow and return to the nearest manifold, and gets a number. Tips say when there is no manifold or a manifold has more than 12 circuits. The floor heating layout prints as its own sheet.
- Improved
Systems on Sheets and every symbol on the wall
Sheets has new tables from the plan: Panel schedule, Floor heating circuits and Mounting heights, and new views: the single-line diagram and the floor heating layout. A ceiling light, vent or drain can now get a height on a wall, and then shows in the wall elevation; a soil stack runs from floor to ceiling.
- New
Bathroom and kitchen check
Interior says when a toilet, sink or shower has too little room (IRC 2021 in a plan in feet and inches), when a Dutch toilet room or bathroom is smaller than the Bbl asks for a new home, and when the work triangle is too long. With the size we measure next to the size of the rule. A note, never a block.
- New
Before and after
A plan with new walls or walls to demolish shows Existing or After the works in 3D, the elevations, the section and the 3D of a view link. Switch to see the home as it is now; the plan itself does not change.
- Improved
Kitchen and wall, finished
The wall elevation shows a kitchen run in its parts: plinth, base cabinets with seams, worktop, backsplash with tiles and wall cabinets at their height. A band of wall tiles gets a pattern (brick, herringbone, diagonal) with the extra cutting in the count. A kitchen in an L or U counts the corner once, and Make a corner piece shortens the other run.
- New
Dutch example plans by home type
Seven new Dutch pages with floor plans by home type, in square meters: tiny house, care home in the garden (mantelzorgwoning), bungalow, home for older people, barn-style house, farmhouse and notary-style house, plus a second plan on the apartment page. Every room shows what counts under the Dutch measuring code (NEN 2580): living area, other indoor space and outdoor space. A sleeping loft under 1.50 m, a void, a garage and a balcony are listed apart. Open any plan in the editor and you get the same numbers.
- New
Quantities of the work: demolish, build, sills and reveals
Quantities and costs now shows what a renovation takes: square meters and length of wall to demolish and to build per kind of wall, doors and windows that go out and come in, the wall to break out for a new opening and to close up for a removed one, window sills and reveals. In meters or in feet, and in the CSV.
- New
Layers from the build-up, and a floor build-up per room
Plaster, board, insulation, screed and waterproofing per material, in area and volume, from the build-up of each wall and the new floor build-up of each room. Waterproofing counts its upstand on the walls. Walls without a build-up are named, not guessed.
- Improved
The quote follows every quantity, with line templates per trade
A quote line can now follow any quantity of the plan: demolish and new, sills, reveals, layers, tiles, the kitchen run, cables, pipes and symbols per piece, or a whole trade at once, with a subtotal per trade. Save the lines of a trade with your own prices as a template and use it again in the next quote. We never fill in prices.
- New
Line templates in your account
Signed in, your line templates per trade are saved in your account and come back on every device.

The editor fits a tablet held upright and large text
On a tablet held upright, Export stays in view, the page no longer slides sideways and the tools no longer sit under Dimensions. With text at 200 % on a small phone, menus, Export and the wall card wrap instead of running off the screen. Undo and Redo on a phone are easier to tap, and Whole wall / This part only grows with your text size.
- Improved
Works when your browser blocks storage
With strict privacy settings, such as Firefox blocking all cookies, the editor opens and you can draw. The status says right away that this browser cannot keep the plan, also when its storage is full, with a button to download the file.
- Improved
Pinch to zoom while you draw walls
Zooming with two fingers in the middle of a chain of walls no longer adds an extra wall. The chain carries on where you left it.
- Improved
See what is chosen in high contrast, and locked rooms
In high contrast mode the chosen tool, view, side that stays, wall thickness and other choices get a clear outline. A room with its size locked shows a small lock next to its name.
- Improved
Start from address opens faster
Coming from Start from address on the website, the address window now comes first, even on a slow phone, with a calm loading line instead of an empty plan. If you are signed in with a plan in this browser, the question to add it to your account waits until the address window is closed.
- Improved
One part fails, the rest keeps working
If a part of the editor cannot load, for example offline the first time or just after an update, only that part says so, with Try again. The rest keeps working, and once you are back online the part comes back by itself, without reloading.
- Improved
Clear status when your account stops saving
Signed out somewhere else or your session ended: the status says Signed out with a Sign in button, and your latest changes go to your account as soon as you sign in. A home moved to the trash can be put back from the editor. Removed from a team: the status says View only, with the file to download. Returning from payment no longer says Payment received until the payment is confirmed. A refused team or personal name gets its own message.

- Improved
Rooms with many walls
A room with many walls, such as a bay window of twelve short walls, a tower room or a long L-shaped hall, now keeps its name and use when you open the plan again. Before, such a plan could not be loaded.
- Improved
Clearer room names in example plans
In the pictures of the example plans, names in small rooms no longer run into each other or over the walls. A small room gets a shorter or smaller label, only its name (the area is in the table next to it), or a label beside it with a thin line.
- Improved
More different layouts from a description
Plan from a description now also tries a square and a long outline, so you get three really different layouts more often. The best one is still first.

- Improved
Fewer versions when you work together
When two people save the same home in turn, Versions keeps at most one state per person every 10 minutes, instead of one for every save. A change that replaced someone else's work is always kept.

- New
Start with your address, from the Dutch site
The Dutch home page and the page for energy advisers now have a button that opens the editor at Start from your address.
- New
More example plans: cabins, barndominiums, styles and apartments
Fifty-three more pages with real floor plans by home type: cabins and small houses, barndominiums with a shop, houses by number of bedrooms, mobile homes, duplexes and apartments, and styles from Cape Cod and Tudor to mid-century modern. Every plan shows each room with what counts under ANSI Z765; a shop, a garage, a porch, a basement and space under 5 ft are listed apart. Open any plan in the editor and you get the same numbers.
- New
Team for design partners during the beta
Offices that help shape Squaremetry can get Team during the beta without paying: one house style, client profiles and one shared workspace for up to 5 people. Plan and billing then shows Team (granted until a date). On that date it stops and everything you made stays; taking Team yourself replaces it at once, with no double seats.
Needs an account. Accounts open with the beta.
- Improved
Dates are your own day
A new quote is dated today on your clock, also just after midnight or in New Zealand, and the date in the field, on the screen and in the PDF is the same day. Valid until is exactly the number of days you set. Deadlines, the sun study and the report from an AI assistant use your day as well.
- Improved
File names keep their letters
A plan called Woning Şahin Yılmaz Łódź now downloads as woning-sahin-yilmaz-lodz instead of losing letters, and a name in Chinese stays in the file name. This holds for the PDF, the images, DXF, the quote and the other exports.
- Improved
Copied only when it really is
When the browser does not allow copying, the API key, the webhook secret, the widget code and the buyer link no longer say Copied. You see that copying did not work, and the text is selected so you can copy it yourself.
Needs an account. Accounts open with the beta.
- Improved
Large text on a small phone
With the text size at 200% on a phone 320 pixels wide, the site no longer slides sideways: the logo stays small, the menu button stays on screen, buttons and long words wrap, and wide tables scroll inside their own frame. In the editor, a long press on the drawing no longer selects text on an iPhone, and Open file also offers .sqm files on an iPhone.
- Improved
My homes finds every house, also with thousands
My homes used to stop at 500 houses: search and the Trash did not see the rest. Now search looks through every house in your workspace, the count is right, and the list loads the next houses when you scroll down or click Show more. Every house in the Trash can be found and restored.

- Improved
Download my data has everything, also the Trash
Download my data gave at most 1,000 houses and left out the Trash. Now the zip has every house, and houses in the Trash are in the folder Trash.

Saving on two devices at once keeps both
When your laptop and your phone saved the same house at the same moment, one change could be lost. Now one of them gets the message that a change from another device was kept in Versions, and both states are there.

- Improved
Large plans: reports and the FML are faster
The professional report and the FML of a plan with many walls are made about twice as fast, and a very large plan gets more time. When our server is busy with other large plans, the editor now says so, instead of saying the plan is too large.

- Improved
Your receipt shows every letter and the home
Receipts for a home now name the home, and names like Şahin or Łódź are spelled right instead of with question marks.

API keys and AI count per month in Dutch time
The monthly limit of an API key and the AI actions per month start at midnight on the first, Dutch time (Europe/Amsterdam), like the homes per month. Retry-After says exactly how long until then.

- Improved
Every name in your PDF, in every alphabet
Names such as Şahin, Yılmaz, Łódź, Šimek or Œuvre, and Greek, Cyrillic, Arabic, Hebrew and Chinese text, now appear in the measurement report and in every PDF exactly as you typed them. They used to turn into question marks. Emoji are left out of the PDF.
- Improved
Uploading many floor plans: one odd file name no longer stops the rest
A file name with an emoji right at the length limit used to stop the whole upload with "No connection". Now the name is shortened without cutting a character in half, and every file gets its own result. A room or level name with an emoji at the limit saves to your account as well.
Needs an account. Accounts open with the beta.
- Improved
Long names fit in My houses
A very long name or address without spaces no longer makes My houses wider than the screen. Names and addresses wrap and stop after two lines with an ellipsis; hover to see the whole name. Searching for cafe now also finds Café, even when the name came from a Mac file name.
Needs an account. Accounts open with the beta.
- Improved
Its own reason when a name cannot be saved
An empty name, a name of only spaces or invisible characters, or a team name over 200 characters is now refused with its own reason instead of a server error. Characters that turn text around are taken out of names, so a name always reads the way it looks. The 10 homes per month now start counting at midnight in the Netherlands.

- New
Start from your address (Netherlands)
Type a Dutch address and the editor makes the outer walls of every floor, the attic and the roof in one go, from public map data (BAG and 3D BAG). You see a preview first: the outline with the walls you share with the neighbours, and a small 3D view. Shared walls become party walls, a garage on your plot becomes a separate building, and every wall is marked Assumed so you know to check it. One Undo takes it all back. Apartments are not supported yet.

- New
Type a size, or lock it
Type the length of a wall, or the width and depth of a rectangular room inside the walls, in feet and inches or meters. Choose which side stays: left or top, right or bottom, or both sides. Joined walls move along, so rooms stay closed, and doors and windows keep their place from the side that stays. Lock size keeps a wall length or a room size: other changes move it as a whole, or do not go through, with one sentence why. Lock several at once: Shift + click, or on a phone press and hold and tap Select more.
- New
Move the whole wall or just this part
When another wall joins a wall partway along, a small switch shows next to it: Whole wall or This part only. This part only moves just the piece between the joins where you grab it, and adds short walls of the same kind and thickness so the rooms stay closed. Doors and windows in that piece go with it, the rooms and their areas follow at once, and one Undo puts it all back. Hold Alt (Option) while you drag for the other choice; on a phone, tap the choice first. Drag the piece back in line and it is one wall again.
- Improved
Walls stay attached to a curved wall
A wall that joins another wall partway along now stays attached when you curve that wall, straighten it or move it. Before, its end stayed on the old straight line, which left a gap, and the room behind it lost its colour and its area. The wall label also has room between the kind and the thickness again, and it no longer covers the size labels.
- Improved
Pick from up to three layouts
Plan from a description now shows up to three different layouts side by side, each with a small drawing and its area by the standard of your plan. Pick one with the mouse or the arrow keys and click Use this layout. It is still one AI action.

Mail during the beta
After your first sign-in in the beta you get one welcome mail with the first steps and the date the beta ends. Thirty, fourteen and seven days before the end, and the day before, we email you what changes and what stays free; if the beta runs longer, you hear the new date. Each mail comes once. People on the waitlist are invited in small groups, and unsubscribing always works.

- Improved
What happens to your plan with AI, on one page
The AI floor plan generator page now shows the proposal screen for a typed description, measured by the standard, and says exactly what an AI action sends and what stays in your browser. Two new questions answer whether we train AI on your plans and whether there are credits.
- Improved
3D in your language right away
Change the language while 3D is open, in the editor, in a shared link or in the presentation: the words and numbers in the drawing change with it. Labels such as the plan cut, the note about what is above the cut and the norm lines now read in English, Dutch or German.
- Improved
No false alarm when you edit through a link
If you edit a plan through an edit link and the connection dropped just after saving, or the same save arrived twice, the next save no longer says that someone else changed the plan at the same time. That message now only appears when someone really did.
Needs an account. Accounts open with the beta.
- Improved
Very large plans save calmly
Saving a very large plan to your account no longer holds up the server for anyone else: the area is worked out on the side. A plan in your account can have up to 2,000 walls on a floor and 25,000 parts in total. A larger plan stays in your browser, the status says Too large for your account · kept here, and your account keeps the version from before.

Changing your mind at checkout is safe
Did you open a checkout for a home and then choose the home with the measurement report in another tab? The first checkout can no longer be paid, and if it was paid at the same moment, you get what you paid for. Opening the checkout again after closing it, or clicking twice, gives the same checkout. Pro and Team: two tabs give one checkout and never two subscriptions.

Team seats hold when you invite many people at once
Sending several invitations at the same moment can no longer go past the seats of your team. Invitations beyond the last seat get the message that all seats are taken.

- Improved
Clearer reason when an upload is the wrong kind
Uploading floor plans: a web page or a ZIP file with an image name now says it is the wrong kind of file, not that it is damaged. Damaged now only means an image that cannot be opened.

Every waitlist link keeps working
Signed up for the waitlist twice? The confirmation link in the first email still works, and the link to leave the list, in every email we sent you, still takes you off it in one click.
- Improved
Energy export follows the survey protocol more closely
The energy export now makes a project file of version 12.0 (NTA 8800:2025) and fills in the cooling of a cooling zone. A garage is always outside the zone and borders a strongly ventilated space; an attic is inside unless you mark it cold. Rooms open to a room with air conditioning join the cooling zone. Floors and roofs run to the middle of a party wall, a roof under 15 degrees is flat, and a sliding door counts as a window. New in the file: the year classes from 2014, the front façade with the front door, the roof type of the main building, the BAG number from your account and the building height from ground level, dormers included. The energy label table in the measuring instruction shows the same Ag. You still check everything.
- New
Several editors on one home
The editor menu at the top left takes you to Plan, Survey, Interior, Systems, Model, Site, Sheets or Present, also with Alt and the number of the editor. Each has its own calm screen and tools, and all of them work on the same plan: move a wall in Plan and 3D, the sheets, the measurement sheet, the energy export, the floor heating and the quote follow. What you chose stays chosen, and Undo works across editors and says where a step was made. Switching editor halfway through a wall ends it, as Esc does. On a phone you see Plan, Survey and Present.
- New
Your work profile
Tell us what you use Squaremetry for: homeowner, real estate agent, drafter, energy assessor, remodeler or designer. On the start screen, in the editor menu or in Settings. It sets which editors you see first and how you start, with FML, DXF or AI where it fits. The other editors stay under More editors, at the same price.
- Improved
A calmer top bar and panel
The top bar now has the editor menu, the views of that editor, Together, a menu with units, language, File and Feedback, Share and Export. On the left you see the levels, the rooms and one total; variants, heights, layers and the room map are under More for this plan. In 3D, the section and the elevations the panels and the drawing tools step aside; in 3D the level tabs stay when there is more than one level. On a phone More is grouped and the card of a room is half high, with the room in view.
- Improved
The professional report and the FML come from our server
The professional measurement report and the FML for Funda are now made on our server, from the version in your account, after it checks what applies to this home. It is the same report as before, page for page. The editor saves your last change first; without a connection, or if the home changed in another tab, it says so and nothing is counted. The indicative report is still made in your browser, also offline.
Needs an account. Accounts open with the beta.
- Improved
The gross volume follows the roof
In Measuring instruction the gross volume now follows the roof as you drew it: every wing of an L, T or U shape, a pitch per side and every dormer, up to the top of the roof build-up. Before, a roof on an L, T or U counted as the rectangle around the level, which made the volume too high, and a dormer did not count. A plain rectangle without dormers keeps exactly the same number. The sheet, the report and the Dutch section show the same roof; in the section the 1.50 m and 2.00 m lines under a dormer now start at its front.
- New
Square feet to acres, and converters both ways
A converter for square feet to acres with lot sizes, and in Dutch one for acres to square meters. The area converters now also work the other way: type the unit after the number, like 2.5 acres on the hectares page, and the answer starts with hectares.
- New
More converters for measuring
New converters for millimeters, inches, centimeters, meters and feet, square meters, square yards, square inches and hectares, a feet and inches calculator that adds and subtracts, and a guide to reading a tape measure with a tape that shows your mark. Most have a button that opens the room or lot in the editor.
- New
How big Dutch homes are
A Dutch study with Statistics Netherlands (CBS) figures: the average home is 120 m², per home type and per building period, from 2012 to 2026, with our own example homes next to it and the data as a download.
- Improved
Steadier converters
The acres converter no longer stops working above 11,000 acres; it now says that 10,000 acres is the limit for one lot. Converters also read thousands the way you write them: 1,000 in English and 1.000 in Dutch.
- Improved
No false alarm after saving
If the page closed or the connection dropped just after saving to your account, the next save no longer says that a change from another device was kept in Versions. That message now only appears when the home really changed elsewhere, such as on another device.
Needs an account. Accounts open with the beta.
- New
Two devices at a time
Your account works on two devices at a time, on every plan. Sign in on a third and the oldest is signed out, with a short message there. Each new device sends you one email, and Settings, Security lists your devices with a Sign out button.
Needs an account. Accounts open with the beta.
- Improved
Euros in the Dutch editor
In Dutch, the editor shows every amount in euros: unlocking a home, Pro, Team, the quote and the quantities. In English it stays in dollars.
- Improved
Images from 3D follow the export rules
PNG and 360° images from 3D, and the PNG of the section, now follow the same rules as other exports: free ones carry the small Made with Squaremetry mark; with Pro, Team or an unlocked home they do not.
- Improved
Your wish starts with your vote
A wish you suggest on the wishlist now starts with your own vote on it. You can still take it back.
- Improved
Basements by ANSI Z765
The rules, the basement question and the guides now say it plainly: only the basement level itself is below grade; the floor above it stays above grade. The calculation already worked this way.
- New
62 new example plans by home type
Twenty pages with real floor plans by home type, from tiny houses and ADUs to barndominiums, farmhouses and houses with a basement, and a real plan on fifteen square footage pages. Every plan shows each room with what counts under ANSI Z765: a garage, a porch, a basement and space under 5 ft are listed apart. Open any plan in the editor and you get the same numbers.
- Improved
New prices, and no more "unlimited"
One home stays $5. A home with the professional measurement report is $7.50. Pro is $19 a month or $149 a year, with 30 new homes a month. Team is $69 a month or $690 a year for 5 people, with 150 new homes a month; add people up to 20, each with 30 homes more. A home counts once: exporting it again is free, also later. Above the number, one more home is $2, or move to Team. You see how many are left before you export.
Needs an account. Accounts open with the beta.
- Improved
Team for more than 5 people, and per year
In Settings, Plan and billing, an owner or admin adds or removes a seat, up to 20 people. A seat that is in use cannot go. Team can now also be paid per year.
Needs an account. Accounts open with the beta.
- Improved
The professional measurement report belongs with Pro, Team or a home with the report
The indicative report stays free, with the small mark. The professional report and the FML for Funda are part of Pro, Team or a home with the measurement report. A home you already unlocked adds the report for the difference. During the beta it stays free within your 10 homes a month.
Needs an account. Accounts open with the beta.
- Improved
Honest about the status of the rules
The measurement report and the way of working in every report name the rule set with its id, version and status. While the rules are a proposal, a professional report says it is a concept, never final.
- New
Footprint for appraisers, in tenths of a foot
Walk around the house and type each side, like R 32.5, D 24, L 12.3. You see at once whether it closes and how many square feet it is, and one click draws the exterior walls. The footprint sketch (PDF) shows every level with its sides in tenths of a foot and the area calculation. The report and the CSV get declarations for ANSI Z765-2021 in our own words.
- New
For Funda in Export
With a plan to the Dutch measuring instruction, Export has one package for Funda: the FML, a PNG per floor and the measurement report when it is ready. Funda has not yet confirmed that it accepts FML files from other programs; until then, give your agent the PNG or the PDF.
- Improved
The report address comes from your home
Is the home in your account with an address, then the measurement report fills in street, postcode and place for you. You can still change them, and one click puts the address of the home back.
Needs an account. Accounts open with the beta.
- New
Upload many floor plans at once
In My homes, click Upload floor plans and choose up to 20 PDFs or pictures at once. Each one becomes its own house with the floor plan as its document. Open a house and the plan is ready as an underlay: set the scale, then Detect walls works as usual. A file that does not work gets a line with the reason.
Needs an account. Accounts open with the beta.
- New
The 2.00 m line in the Dutch section
For a Dutch plan the section now shows the 2.00 m line next to the 1.50 m line under a sloped roof, in the same style and also in 3D and in the SVG. Both heights read with two decimals. A line only runs where the roof is higher; a flat roof has none.
- Improved
Fuse box: main switch in the CSV and safer limits
The CSV export lists the main switch and the supply above the circuit overview. A circuit on three phases with a single phase supply now shows up under To check. A main switch from a file that is not in the list is shown as it is. And a 49th circuit no longer gets a 13th RCD, which made the plan impossible to open again.
- New
Draw freehand
In Model, hold the button and drag a loose line on the ground or on a face; end on the start and it becomes a face. On the plan, Freehand draws a loose line as a note or sketch that never counts. Each line is one step to undo.
- New
3D text in Model
Raised letters with a letter height and a depth, on a face, on a wall of the house or standing on the ground, such as a house number. They show in 3D and in GLB and OBJ, and never count for the area.
- Improved
Set the scale with something you know
When you trace a plan, a bath (170 cm, or 5 ft and 5 ft 6 in) sits next to the standard door. The total from the listing now really sets the scale: after your first rooms, or on an outline you click. You see how sure the scale is.
- New
Your name instead of ours, with Team
A team can show its own name and logo instead of "Made with Squaremetry" on view links, embedded plans, presentations, flyers and the measurement report. The link stays on squaremetry.com.
Needs an account. Accounts open with the beta.
- Improved
Ask the norm shows our guides on every plan
Signed in without Pro, or with your free AI actions used up? Ask the norm still shows the parts of our measuring guides that match your question, with the link and the rules version, without an AI answer. That costs nothing and does not count. An AI answer is part of Pro, and of the free AI actions in the beta.
Needs an account. Accounts open with the beta.
- New
Try the AI: 3 free actions a month in the beta
During the beta, an account without Pro or Team gets 3 AI actions a month for free: a plan from a description or a sketch, a change with a sentence, a listing text or a question to Ask the norm, all counted together. Next to the button you see how many are left this month. An action that fails or that you cancel does not count. Pro and Team keep their own monthly limits.
Needs an account. Accounts open with the beta.
- New
Pages for remodeling
New pages on the electrical plan, outlet and switch heights, as-built drawings, the bathroom plumbing layout, interior elevations, tile layouts and home additions. Each shows drawings made by the editor itself, with the heights, lengths and areas from the same plan.
- Improved
Energy export with address and building height
The project file of the energy export now also holds the address (from the home in your account, or from the survey report) and the building height, from the ground floor level to the highest point of the roof. For an apartment the height stays empty. What is missing stays empty with Please check. The file is a plain label survey: tailored advice is off.
- New
Energy export for EP advisers
In Measure, More for professionals now shows the Ag per calculation zone and the loss areas of a drawn home, with a room with air conditioning as its own zone. With Pro or Team you download a project file (.epa), a table (CSV) or a sheet (PDF) for your energy label software. It is input, not a label: you check it.
- Improved
Systems on every drawing, one terrain in 3D, and Pages
The mounting height of a symbol now has one source, so the wall elevation, Systems and 3D agree; a radiator hangs by its bottom. Wall elevations also draw the boiler, water meter, manifold and indoor air conditioner. The electrical and plumbing sheet of the drawing set shows the cables, the switch lines and a legend with the circuits. While Model holds a copy of the plot terrain, 3D shows the terrain once. The pages you trace are now called Pages, so Sheets means only the drawing sheets.
- Improved
Easier to read and to click
Buttons in the toolbar and the top bar are larger, with a click area of at least 44 px. Text in the editor is at least 12 px, the edges of fields are dark enough to see, and radio buttons and check boxes are teal.
- Improved
Room labels that fit
The name and area of a room now stand at its roomiest spot, away from the bed, the rug and the stair, with a white edge so they read over wood and tiles. In a narrow room, or when you zoom out, the name goes over two lines and then only the area shows, so the text stays between the walls. Exports, shared links and PDFs do the same. On a phone a problem chip stays on the screen.
- Improved
A calmer website
The home page now says each promise once, and the steps read as a short numbered list. On a phone there is one yellow button in view at a time and nothing to swipe sideways. The site fits screens from 280 pixels wide, also when you zoom in.
- New
Squaremetry in your AI assistant
Add Squaremetry to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or VS Code and ask for the floor area of your rooms under the Dutch measuring instruction or ANSI Z765, with the rule set and its version. The answer has a link that opens exactly those rooms in the editor, with your sizes inside the walls. Signed in, the assistant finds your plans, exports them and makes an area report, with the same rules as in the app.
- New
The open .sqm format, with a validator
The plan file now has a published specification, a JSON Schema and an example file for every example home. A saved .sqm also stores the areas with the rule set and its version. Check any .sqm in your browser on the format page.
- Improved
Every number says what it covers
The main number now says Whole home, and with more floors the floor you see has its own line. On a phone the sheet shows the floor under its name and the whole home below it. The Check panel names a rule once, with its floors. In meters the three other ways to measure sit under Compare. In an AI proposal in feet each room shows its area again instead of 0 sq ft.
- Improved
Plans open with Select
A plan that already has walls now opens with Select, so a click chooses and never adds a wall. 3D, the section, the elevations and Measuring instruction switch to Select too. An empty plan still starts with Wall, and on a phone the line above the toolbar follows the tool you picked.
- Improved
One message at a time
The editor now says one thing at a time: a problem or a message first, then the hint for your tool, then a tip. The label at the mouse no longer repeats the hint. The search tip comes after your first room, in plain letters.
- Improved
Typed sizes are inside sizes
Type 12 x 14 in the Room tool or the room list and the room is exactly 12 x 14 from wall to wall: 168 sq ft, the same number as on squaremetry.com. The walls go around it. Links from the website, the calculators and a face you turn into a room in Model work the same way.
- New
Start from an example home
The start screen and the File menu now offer example homes: US homes in square feet and Dutch homes in square meters. Each opens as a normal plan you can change, measure, view in 3D and export.
- New
Calculators for lengths and shapes
Convert feet and inches, centimeters and acres, or work out a circle, L-shaped, trapezoid or irregular room. Draw this room opens the same room in the editor, with exactly the same area.
- Improved
Fixes from a full test round
A room list accepts names with a number, like Bedroom 2 12 x 11, and fixing one wrong line no longer adds the other rooms twice. A typed wall over 1 km gives a message instead of a huge wall. In the report, rooms on a floor below grade no longer say they count. The roof window opens on top in Measuring instruction, and in 3D the card of a piece of furniture no longer covers the camera buttons. On a narrow screen the toolbar scrolls.
- New
Sheets: drawing sheets with live views
A new mode for drawing sheets, from A4 to A0 and ARCH E, with a title block. Place views of the plan at a fixed scale, crop them and turn layers off; add dimensions that follow the walls, notes, tables from the plan and images. Export all sheets as one PDF.
- New
Sheet templates for your office
Save the layout of a sheet as a template for every home of the office, or only for one client profile. Everyone in the team starts a sheet the same way.

- New
Terrain and building on a slope
Add measured heights of the ground around the house, or with an account get them from the Dutch height map (AHN, open data). Elevations draw the ground along each side, 3D shows the slope and the site plan the heights.
- New
Plot boundary and site plan
In Place › Plot, draw the plot boundary, make it as a rectangle around the house or, with an account, get it from the land registry. The distance to the boundary on every side, a driveway and garden, and a site plan in the export and the measuring report.
- New
Split levels and foundations
Give a floor its own level, such as a half floor at +1.40 m, and link it with a stair that follows the levels. Choose the foundation per building: crawl space, slab or basement. The gross volume follows, and a basement can be added as a level.
- New
Renovation drawings
Mark walls, doors and windows as new or to demolish: new is red, demolish yellow with a dashed line. Areas count the plan after the work. Export the existing situation, the work and the new situation as separate sheets.
- New
A drawing set in one PDF
Export a drawing set: a cover with the list of sheets, the floor plan, furniture and electrical plan per floor, elevations, section, room walls and sheets with your own text, each with a title block. Choose and order the sheets; the choice stays with the plan.
- New
Wall elevations of every room
In Elevations, choose Room walls to see every wall of a room from inside: cabinets at their height, tiles, sockets and switches at their mounting height, windows, doors and sizes, with a key plan. Export one page per room as PDF, SVG or DXF.
- Improved
Your logo on exports with Pro
With Pro, the logo from Settings › Brand now sits at the top of your PDF, PNG, JPG and SVG exports, not only in the embed. Teams keep their house style and client profiles.

- New
Prices in euros, and pages for professionals
The Dutch site now shows the prices in euros, including VAT, with pages for real estate agents, drafting services and energy advisors. New on the site: a page for appraisers with ANSI Z765 and the UAD 3.6 table, pages about AI floor plans, plans from a photo and 3D, four more room sizes, and short answers to what people ask before they start.
- New
Fuse box, pipes, a proposal per room and the X-ray house
In Systems, put sockets and lights on circuits, lay the cables from the meter cupboard and see the overview and count of the fuse box. Draw water, drain, heating and duct runs with their length, or lay them automatically. Propose gives a first layout per room type that you accept or discard in one step. In 3D, the X-ray house shows the building phases with the installations through the walls. A PDF sheet per trade has a legend with counts and lengths; a DXF puts each trade on its own layer.
- New
Systems: electrical, water, heating and air
Turn on the Systems mode to place sockets, switches, lights, taps, radiators, vents and air conditioners with their mounting height. Each trade is a layer you can turn off on the screen and in each export, and a PDF can add a sheet per trade. A drawing aid, not an installation design.
- New
Measurement report from an FML file
Open an FML file and go straight to a measurement report in one route: confirm the load-bearing walls one by one, pick a roof, make the report.
- New
A "measure your home" link
Send the occupant a link with five simple steps. They measure, you check the measurements before the report.

- New
Assignments, review links and approval

- New
Statistics of a view link
See visits, viewing time and the time per room of a view link. Without cookies and without personal data.

- New
Tape measure in 3D
Measure between two points in 3D; the tape snaps to corners and wall edges. Photo points show in 3D too.
- New
A quote from the quantities
Turn the quantities into a quote with VAT, discount and markup per line, a valid-until date, a PDF and the signature of your client.
- New
Checklists for the site visit
Fixed questions for the measuring instruction or ANSI Z765, with a signature. The answers count in what the measurement report notes or holds back.
- Improved
ADU in the UAD 3.6 table
Mark an outbuilding or rooms as an ADU. It gets its own rows and total in the UAD 3.6 table, the copy and the CSV.
- New
A Bluetooth laser
Connect a laser distance meter in Chrome. A chosen wall gets its inside length, a chosen room its ceiling height, marked as measured with a laser.
- New
Export in another language
Export a plan in English, Dutch or German, whatever language the editor is in. Room types follow; names you made up stay.
- New
Image or PDF to DXF in one step
Turn a floor plan picture or PDF into walls, doors with their swing and windows, with the area by the standard, in your browser. Add them to your plan for free, or download a DXF with the usual layers with Pro or an unlocked home.
- New
A listing text from your measurements
Get a short, factual listing text written from what you measured: the area by the standard, rooms, floors and outdoor space. Parts with a number you did not measure, or a word that exaggerates, are left out. Text only, part of Pro.
Needs an account. Accounts open with the beta.
- New
Room names from the traced plan
After detecting the walls, the editor can read the room names on the plan, like Kitchen or Slaapkamer 2, and propose them as name and type per room. Keep or drop each one; one undo takes them away.
- New
Several sheets at once, as floors
Choose a ground floor and a first floor at once, or a PDF with more pages. Each sheet goes under its own floor with its own scale, like 1:100 straight from the PDF, and the floors line up.
- New
Change the plan with a sentence
Type make the kitchen open, add a study or make bedroom 2 bigger. You see the floor now and with the change, with the difference in area by the standard, and accept it in one step. Part of Pro.
Needs an account. Accounts open with the beta.
- New
Trace a phone photo of a paper plan
Took a photo of a printed plan? Straighten the photo drags four corners onto the sheet, straightens it and removes shadows and specks, all in your browser. Detect walls now also finds doors with their swing.
- Improved
Scanned walls, checked before a report
A wall can now say its length comes from a scan, with how sure the scan was. On a scanned floor, the measuring instruction and the Check panel ask you to check the scanned measurements first, with a check measurement and the facade thickness.
- New
Work on a home together, live
Open Together, fill in your name and draw at the same time as others who have the home open, in your account or through an edit link. Everyone has their own colour and cursor; when two people change the same thing, the last change counts. Without a connection you keep drawing and your changes go along later.
Needs an account. Accounts open with the beta.
- New
Comments with a pin
Put a pin with a question or remark on the plan, reply to it and mark it as done. Comments are saved with the home and never show on the drawing or in an export.
- New
Upload your own 3D model
Add a GLB or OBJ file of a piece you own. We check the size and the unit it was made in, then you place it like any other piece; 3D shows your model. Up to 20 MB and 200,000 triangles.
- Improved
A larger library, also for offices, cafes and shops
Twenty-one more pieces now show as a real 3D model, from wall cabinets and cooker hoods to lamps and a wall-hung toilet. Three new floors: terrazzo, cork and hexagon tiles. Sixteen new items for offices, hospitality and shops, such as a bar counter, a checkout and shop shelving.
- New
Documents with a home or a room
Keep quotes, specifications and photos with the home or with a room, shown with its area. PDF, JPG, PNG or WebP up to 10 MB. Photos lose their location data. They stay off the drawing and out of share links.
- New
Colour per part, prices and a budget next to a roomy version
Give the frame and the upholstery of a piece its own material and colour; you see it in the plan and in 3D. Add your own price, model number and link per item, in a budget and a roomy version. The products list adds them up per room and for the whole home, also in the CSV.
- New
Prices in the office library
An office can give its own items a price, a model number and a link. When a colleague places the item, the price comes along into the plan.
Needs an account. Accounts open with the beta.
- New
Wall tiles in bands and a tile plan
Split a wall side by height, for example tiles up to 1.20 m and paint above, with the area minus doors and windows and the number of tiles. Give a tiled floor a pattern (straight, brick, herringbone or diagonal), a start point and a direction; the plan shows the joints and the count adds the extra cutting.
- New
Interior mode with a kitchen run
Turn on Interior and add a kitchen run along a wall in one click: worktop, base and wall cabinets, a backsplash of panel or tiles and a ceiling trim. Quantities and costs counts the worktop length, the cabinets and the tiles.
- New
News only when you ask, and a reminder before a yearly renewal
Settings, Account has News by e-mail: off until you tick it, and every news mail stops with one click. With Pro per year you get a mail 7 days before it renews, with the amount and the way to cancel.

- New
Single sign-on (SAML) for offices
With Team, Settings, Team can connect the identity provider of your office. After you prove your domain with a DNS record, colleagues sign in with their work account and join the office. We switch it on per office.
Needs an account. Accounts open with the beta.
- New
Images in 8K
With Pro or Team, PNG and JPG have a fourth size: 8K, 7680 px wide, for large prints. A phone that cannot make an image this large says so, instead of giving an empty image.
Needs an account. Accounts open with the beta.
- New
Listing pack for listing sites and MLS
Export, More formats has a listing pack: the floor plans per floor as JPG and the areas a listing site asks for in one ZIP. For the US the RESO fields an MLS reads, with the source of the area you choose; for the Netherlands the four areas of the measuring instruction.
- New
Connect an AI assistant to your plans
An AI assistant that speaks MCP can now sign in as you: it reads your plans with every room and its area, exports them, and if you allow it renames plans and rooms. You see what it asks before you allow it, and Settings, API lists every connection with a button to disconnect.
Needs an account. Accounts open with the beta.
- New
Webhooks and dated API versions
With Pro or Team, Settings, API now sends a signed message to your own system when a plan changes or an export or measuring report is ready, with tries again and a delivery log. The API has versions with a date and fair notice before an old one stops.
Needs an account. Accounts open with the beta.
- New
3D models and BIM files
Export opens More formats: GLB, USDZ and now OBJ with materials, each level and kind as its own part, and IFC 4 for BIM, with every room as a space and the area that counts under your standard.
- New
Start from a scan or an IFC file
Open a room scan from an iPhone or iPad with LiDAR (RoomPlan JSON or USDZ) or an IFC file as a new plan with walls, doors, windows and rooms. A point cloud becomes an underlay at scale to trace.
- New
See a piece of furniture in your room
Click a piece of furniture and choose See it in your room (AR). On an iPhone, iPad or Android phone with AR it stands at its real size in your room; on a computer you scan a QR code. The link holds only the kind and size, not your plan.
- New
Walk through the house in VR
With a VR headset, 3D and the view link show a VR button. You start at eye level where the camera was and walk with the thumbstick.
- New
View links that unfold when you paste them
Paste your view link in a chat app, Slack, Teams or a document and it shows a card with the name, the area and a picture of the floor plan. Sites that can embed show the plan itself. You choose per link; off gives a plain card.
Needs an account. Accounts open with the beta.
- Improved
Videos that start from the floor plan
A video can now start with your floor plan, after which the walls rise and the camera flies past your saved views. Add calm or bright music made in your browser, or save a GIF as a quick preview.
- New
From a floor plan to walking through it
Open 3D on an empty plan and upload a floor plan. Set the scale with one line; when the walls are found with confidence they go into your plan, rise from your drawing, and you walk through the house. Then choose a roof.
- New
Realistic 3D
One switch in 3D and in your view link: real textures on walls and floors, the sun at your time of day, soft shadows and furniture at real size in empty rooms. Made from your own plan, not an AI image.
- New
Photo quality when you stand still
In Realistic, stand still at eye level or in bird's-eye and real light is worked out in your browser: sun through the windows and soft shadows. Move and normal 3D is back. Phones get a light version.
- New
Model: free 3D shapes next to your plan
A new mode to draw and shape anything in 3D: lines and faces that close by themselves, extrude, move, rotate and copy in rows, groups and components, join and subtract, terrain, smart parts and furniture from the library. The terrain of your plot can be shaped here too, and elevations, 3D and the report follow. Same house and the same undo. Free shapes count for area only after you make them a wall, room, storey, roof or dormer.
- New
Where every size comes from
Each wall can say how its length was taken: measured, laser, from a drawing or assumed, with an accuracy. The report and the CSV list it. In an account, a Dutch home can be compared with the area in the BAG.
- New
Photos and notes per room
Add photos and a site note to a room, place photo points on the plan, upload your own 360° photo and blur faces or house numbers in your browser. Location data is always removed.
- New
A public wishlist
See what is planned, in progress and done, and vote for what you want next with your account. You can also suggest a wish; the team reads it first. No names are shown.
Needs an account. Accounts open with the beta.
- New
Elevations of every side
Open Elevations next to Plan, Section and 3D to see all four sides of the house, with windows, doors, levels and the roof. Export them as SVG, PDF or DXF.
- Improved
Roofs on any shape, with dormers
Roofs now follow L, T and U shaped houses with ridges, hips and valleys. Set a pitch per side and add a dormer; the attic area follows the new roof.
- New
Garages and sheds as real buildings
Add a garage, shed, summerhouse, carport or canopy with its own walls and roof. It stays out of the main area and shows up separately in the totals and the export.
- New
Larger paper sizes
Export on Tabloid, A2, A1, ARCH C and ARCH D, with a title block on every plan page.
- Improved
A calmer toolbar
The toolbar now shows eight tools. Line, stair, list, trace and the rest are under More tools, and every key still works. The cards for a room, wall, door or window each have their own delete button.
- Improved
Corners that join
A gap of less than 5 cm (2″ in feet) between two wall ends now closes by itself, with a message; undo opens it again. A loose wall end shows an open circle, so you see where a room is not closed.
- New
The editor in German
Choose Deutsch in the language menu, or open the editor in a German browser. German uses metres and a decimal comma.
- New
Every guide in Dutch too
All 68 guides are now also in Dutch, under /nl/help/, with pictures of the Dutch editor.
- Improved
Faster pages
Each page first loads only the styles it needs. The rest, and the fonts, come after the page is on your screen.
- New
A guide for every feature
68 guides with pictures of the real app, on /help/. The ? next to a tool or panel opens the guide for it.
- New
Doors, windows and furniture in the isometric view
The isometric export now draws doors, windows and, if you want, the furniture, in our own drawing style. It also comes as a PDF.
- Improved
Every piece of furniture has a height
Furniture stands at its own height in the isometric view and in 3D, and a wall cabinet hangs where it should. You can set your own height in its panel.
- Improved
Delete a floor
Under the floor tabs you now see Delete, as soon as a plan has more than one floor. You get a message and can undo it in one step.
- New
Nothing below this room
A room upstairs that stands on nothing gets a warning on the drawing and before you export. Show it, move it over the floor below, keep it as an overhang, or fit it to the floor below in one click.
- Improved
Zoom with the mouse wheel
The mouse wheel zooms in and out around the pointer. On a trackpad two fingers move the plan and a pinch zooms.
- Improved
Switch units with a plan drawn
Feet and metres can now be switched at any time, also when a plan is drawn. The sizes stay the same and you can undo it.
- New
Move freely in 3D
Tilt, pan and zoom to the pointer in 3D, or fly and walk through the house, up the stairs to the next floor. With a mouse, trackpad, touch or keys.
- New
Sun study
See how many hours of sun your garden, terrace or balcony gets, per day or per season. The walls of your plan cast shade. Looking up a Dutch address, so the buildings nearby cast shade too, needs an account.
- New
Rent points and energy label input (NL)
For a Dutch home: the area parts of the rent points system (WWS) and the area per floor with Ag, filled in from your plan, as a CSV. A proposal, not yet reviewed; the Huurcommissie stays decisive.
- New
Detect walls when you trace
Upload a picture of a plan and the editor suggests the walls; you keep or drop each one. It can also read the dimensions on the plan to check the scale. This runs in your browser.
- New
Video and stills
Make a video that flies past your saved 3D views (MP4, or WebM where the browser cannot make MP4), or a still of up to 4K. It all happens in your browser.
- New
Free library and your own photos
39 free 3D models and 28 free textures (CC0) for furniture, floors and walls. Or put your own photo on a floor or wall; it stays in your browser.
- New
Dutch measuring instruction mode
Turn on the Dutch measuring instruction mode for a measurement sheet per floor, a closing sum that points to the room that does not add up, and the measurement report.
- New
Your plan in 3D
Switch between Plan, Section and 3D. The plan is raised in 3D in our own drawing style, with ink lines and the colours of your materials.
- New
Section
A cut through the house, with a small key plan that shows the cut line, level marks and heights. Stairs show up in the section too.
- New
Floors
Add floors, switch, rename and copy them. You see the floor below faintly, and the totals count every floor.
- New
Stairs, roofs and outdoor space
Draw stairs, openings in the floor and outdoor space, and give a floor a roof with its shape and pitch. They count in the area where the rules say so, and show in 3D.
- New
Furnish your rooms
Place furniture from the catalogue, duplicate it, group it and push it against a wall. A check tells you whether it fits.
- New
Embed a plan on your own site
Copy the embed code from the share window and the plan shows on your own page, with a button for full screen.

- New
Set the scale with a door
