Inches to feet: in short
Divide the inches by 12. The whole number is the feet and what is left over stays in inches: 66 in is 5′ 6″ (5.5 ft), and 150 in is 12′ 6″.
Step by step
- Divide the inches by 12: 150 ÷ 12 = 12.5.
- The whole number is the feet: 12 feet.
- Multiply the rest by 12 for the inches: 0.5 × 12 = 6 inches.
- Together: 12′ 6″. Fractions work too: 150½ in is 12′ 6½″.
