What counts

What counts in the square footage

Every finished room counts once, whatever it is called: the one-story plan has 2,500 sq ft with both suites, and its patio stays outside the total. On two floors, both floors count, measured to the outside walls.

Each room is measured inside its walls. The finished area of a house is measured to the outside of the exterior walls (ANSI Z765), so it is larger than the rooms added up.

What is a house with two primary (master) suites called?

Usually a dual primary suite plan, or a plan with two owner suites.
